The ORIGIN STORY
In the summer of 2022, I made the difficult decision to step away from an organization I had helped grow for the past 16 years. During a season of intentional rest and discernment (and constantly wondering, "What's next?"), I shared a thought with a
friend:
"I want to stoke the fire of what's stirring in people's hearts. I want to see them lit up and lend them the courage to pursue what's next."
My friend paused, then said simply, "What if you just call it that?"
"Call it what?" I asked.
"Stoke."
The word landed immediately. I couldn't shake it. When I started digging into its meaning, the word felt like the perfect fit in all its forms––
literally and even slang: Literal: To feed, stir, and tend (as in tending a fire); to increase the intensity or activity of something.
Slang: Pure excitement; fired up; ready to move; fully alive. That's what I'm about. You'll find my background and experience in the bio below—but more than credentials, what matters most is who I am and who you are.
Consider me your Stoker: an igniter and encourager of your inner fire. There's nothing I love more than seeing people come alive to pursue their vision with passion and purpose.
We each have a calling to embody—a way to serve others that's uniquely ours. But before we can offer that, many of us need to rediscover who we truly are. That's what Stoke is about: Helping you find that spark again so you can build a life you're genuinely excited to live. 🤘
MEET MATT
Matt is a natural relationship and community builder. He thrives when working on big projects alongside inspired, passionate people. He has spearheaded multiple ventures from concept to launch, and either had a successful exit or transitioned the ventures to other capable leaders. Matt’s been involved in property acquisition as well as various capital raises.
Matt always finds himself in leadership roles, whether that be as a team or organizational leader or founder. He now uses those skills to serve other teams and leaders who are looking to grow. He enjoys helping others recruit new talent and seeing people’s untapped skills mature.
Matt has been married to his wife Margaret for the past 15+ years and they are the proud parents of three wild boys. They love going on adventures and pursuing the “stoke” as a family, especially surfing!
